It's all Hygge baby.

Though there are many ways to describe hygge, we see it simply as the Danish ritual of enjoying life's simple pleasures. Friends. Family. Graciousness.

What a great word. It seems common sense and all, but I love that one word encompasses all this! It's basically all the good stuff in life. For me, candles are one of life's biggest pleasures, and come cool weather I rely on them more than ever to keep my spirits up.

So I've been putting them around the house where ever I happen to be spending time as the days have been getting shorter. It's like putting a smile on a room for me as I light them up.

We've also had some really great quality time with friends and family in the last few weeks. Lots of laughter and little feet running around, lots of good meals around the table after busy days.

As we come nearer to the holiday season it's important to have these little moments of peace and contentment.

Do you have a trick to keeping your spirits up all Winter, or a take on Hygge? I'm totally in love with this concept.

It's 11:31 and I'm sitting here typing out this post thinking about where the year has gone. I mean, yeah it's only March, but man I feel like 2016 is breezing past too fast. And yet too slow in soooo many ways. I'm gonna get honest here today and just lay out how odd the past two years have been where time is concerned. I truly and honestly have no experience with how ANY tv shows are made, just the experience I've personally had with Big Easy Reno and it's a bizarre type of roller coaster you get on when this comes in to your life. First there's the line, where you are waiting to get on the ride and the anticipation is wild and you are trying to be patient but it's hard and you have no idea what to expect, just that it's gonna be crazy and scary and fun. This is basically when someone is tossing around the idea of the show and you have no idea if you even meet the height requirements to be on this ride/show. Then you are near the front of the line and are about to get on and it suddenly becomes kind of scary but you know you'll love it in the end. So you just go for it. Then you make the show and it's the best experience ever and yet you can't really tell anyone you even did it! But the real challenge for me has come after. It's the weeks and months of waiting where absolutely EVERYTHING is out of your control. That's hard, specially for me. It's in the hands of the best people I have ever worked with but man, you feel absolutely powerless. You are torn into these weird dual emotions where you want to just fast forward and find out what the next few years of your life are gonna look like, but yet you don't want to wish away these moments with your family and every day that passes Wren is getting older and less little and I want time to stop for that.

So yeah, I have a love/hate thing happening with Father time lately

It's sounds like we will be heading back to New Orleans again soon to do some new and exciting stuff (I don't know if I am even allowed to share that LOL), and getting on another roller coaster for a bit. But I'd like you all to come along for the ride this time because honestly, the hardest part is how weirdly isolated it feels to not share this major part of my life. My blog IS my life, or a snapshot of it at least, and not sharing much of this journey has been challenging. One of the biggest blessings of our adventure has been in connecting with Ben and Erin, who I like to call our production company siblings, because we've been on a similar path for the past few years and it has been massively therapeutic to discuss this roller coaster ride with someone on the same roller coaster. I don't think that's common, so I cherish them and this bond we have. But I want you all to join us more than anything, because it is your love and support that even started this whole thing. So yeah, if you're up for the adventure, I'm gonna drag you along this time, cool?

So, that turned into a weird, long therapy-like session (thanks!) and now let's get down to what I ACTUALLY came here to share: a Currently post!

Currently Enjoying: dinner while it's still light!! Man I forget how awesome this is all winter. We are often the hosts for family dinner on my side of the family and it's always fun to kick off the weekend with a big old family style diner.

Currently Rocking: Hair that desperately needs a cut and my favourite shirt from Soul Honey,

Currently Listening To: Same Ol' Mistakes by Rihanna. It's super chill and relaxed, and well, it easily gets stuck in my head.

Currently Making: Bath bombs. We were first timers when it came to making them, but it was super easy to find online tutorials and except for the citric acid, all the ingredients were easy to come by. We ended up getting the citric acid at Bulk Barn and we will definitely be making a second batch ASAP! They are the perfect kid craft.

Currently Loving: Toffee's little hair trim. He's beautiful and he knows it! His last hair cut was too short for my liking, I like him a little wooly and fuzzy.

And there ya have it! A little snapshot of life (thanks for pushing through the first two paragraphs LOL).

Raise your hand if you're happy it's a short week! It was family day here, which lined up perfectly for a Sunday Valentine's day. We had a really relaxing, fun weekend and having Monday together was icing on the cake. We spent it playing board games and having a nice family dinner, and I hope you guys had a special day with your loved ones if you were also off!

Currently Loving: This guy. He just gets me and makes day to day moments so fun. When you can laugh a lot it sure makes life easy. My most favourite part of doing Big Easy Reno was that we have a good selection of moments captured together! I am typically the one behind the camera and there aren't nearly enough pictures of us together for my liking, specially candid ones. But thanks to screen grabs I literally have hundreds of pictures of us together now!

Currently Making: Home made chalk. I found this recipe from Oh Joy and we have been making a new batch every day in new colours. It is a pretty easy and quick craft, the hardest part is being patient while they dry! Wren has had a blast mixing and coming up with colour schemes for her next batch, and I've had so much fun watching her. It will probably save me a ton of money on chalk too LOL, we always end up going through a billion boxes around here every year thanks to them getting left out or broken.

Currently Giving Up: on getting Ruby to stop making herself a little too at home on some of the furniture. It's a losing battle on this chair and the sofa in the kitchen. Hey, if she can pretzel her body into fitting on it, I can respect the effort enough to let her enjoy a few minutes on it.

Currently Rocking: more pink! Like I said last week, I found a few reasonably priced blush pieces recently that have me feeling spring like and excited to come up with new outfits again! This Brooklyn tee is my current favourite, for a slouchy fit I sized up to a Medium (I'm usually a Small). Similar wedge work boots.

Currently Watching: BIG EASY RENO!!! We got a surprise re-airing on Saturday, only hearing about it on Friday! We still don't know if we are getting a green light, but it sounds like this is a good sign while we wait to hear. I had so much fun live tweeting it this time! It was a lot more relaxed and chill and some of my NOLA buddies came out to support and had me laughing my head off. It is still totally surreal that afterwards Joanna Gaines tweeted us that she liked the show (WHAAAAA???? SHE MADE MY LIFE!).

Currently Listening To: Who Be Lovin Me by Santigold and I Love Makonnen. It's a fun bubblegum pop song that makes me want to dance every time it comes up in my playlist.
