Living (room) with Less

The view as I come downstairs every morning just makes me smile. Simple, soft and yet perfectly 'us'.

I've written endlessly about our years long purge... it's old news. But it has been shocking just how much peace and happiness it's brought! Seriously eye opening stuff. The lack of 'stuff' is more pleasing than I could have ever imagined, both to the soul and the eyes. The other side of the coin is that I have less content for my blog... I never even connected the amount of stuff and shopping that went into generating new blog content. It was all very fun and pretty to look at... for a little bit. Then I found something new, better, more 'me' and the last thing went to the basement or found a forced home somewhere else in the house to keep my conscience clean.

A favorite pillow I bought in Paris on my beloved Minda Home pom pom throw.

And I wouldn't even say that I am much of a heavy of a shopper! It used to give me twice as much excitement when I found great stuff since I knew I could share it with you here and on Instagram. For this reason learning to really REALLY edit my life where material stuff is concerned was extra challenging.

The big trade off to that is that my stuff now means so much more to me. I enjoy the things I do have with a deeper enjoyment, and when I bring something new and needed into the house it is that much more exciting to me.

I swear to goodness, it's about time I stop talking about our big lifestyle purge... maybe I'll share next how the organizing side of it all has taken shape. I really am not an organized person by nature so it is insanely rewarding to see how much progress we have slowly made. Drawer by drawer, cabinet by cabinet. It's a long, time consuming job, but wow! So many Ah-Ha moments have come from it.

alas, for all I pat myself on the back for this marathon purge... it is still on going. Anyone else out there still working their way through a massive pile of 'stuff'?
